Durant Children's Center
a nationally accredited Children's Advocacy Center (CAC)
The Elizabeth Pettigrew Durant Children’s Center (DCC) was established in 1994 as the 2nd children’s advocacy center in South Carolina. Known as “The House Where the Healing Begins,” the assessment and treatment center for suspected cases of child abuse and neglect was named by Mr. Joe B. Durant of Florence in memory of his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Pettigrew Durant, a well-known teacher who had a great affinity for children. Durant Children's Center is nationally accredited by the National Children's Alliance.
In the event of child abuse, there are Durant Children’s Center various on-site services provided by the Department of Social Services, Law Enforcement, Solicitor’s Office, Medical and Mental Health Professionals, and Victim Advocates. The center provides the following services:

Community Education and Training
Satellite Centers are located in Florence, Hartsville, and Sumter counties.

What Is A CAC?
A children’s advocacy center is the ONE place that provides a safe, child-friendly environment where law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical and mental health professionals may share information and develop effective, coordinated strategies sensitive to the needs of each unique case and child.
